Some decent progress occurring
As you can see in the image, there is some flex occurring, I think is pretty good considering its only been 11 days, and stitches are still in.
I been able to do some PT several times a day. What I do is just stand, and then pick up heel, forcing the toe to flex to the point where it feels light pain (1or2), and holding it for 30 seconds and then putting it back down for 30 seconds. I do this for about 5 minutes a time, every couple hours.
I think the muscle/old muscles that have not been flexed a whole lot prior to surgery (the rigidus part), is in need of the extra flexing.
If you have the surgery, where is your progress at? Are you able to flex at all, some or none yet? Let me know in the comments.
Hi,
I’m enjoying reading your blog. Thank you for posting!
I had cheilectomy surgery on both feet last week. Plaster casts were applied on the day of surgery, and these were removed earlier this week on day 8, and new dressings applied.
It’s now day 11 and I removed the new dressings today. I’m very pleased with results thus far. The wounds are very clean and neat (looks like a plastic surgeon did it!), and swelling is confined to the surgical site. Dissolvable sutures were used and there are no marks, all you can see is the incision.
I have very similar flexion to yours and am now trying to walk more normally and work out how I will be able to wear a shoe to get back to some normality next week. Looking forward to reading the rest of your blog to get some tips!
Thanks again,
Melissa (New Zealand)
