Resources / Tips

The following are medical resources that I have found to be useful. If you have a good stomach, check out the actual video of the surgery that is completed during cheilectomy surgery.

The original wrap after surgery could be removed after 72hrs. That is when you will transition to non-stick pads (see below). After stitches are removed transitioning to a nice large band aid is all that is needed, to keep the rubbing/irritation to a minimum.

Only bandage(s) you need to buy/use

To save you time and money, we found the best and only bandage you have to buy that works absolutely perfect. Once you remove the original wrap from surgery (typically 48-72 hrs after), you simply need this, and when applied at a slight angle like in the picture, it covers it great without sticking to the wound. Size 2 x 3 in with the only 2 ends being sticky.

  1. I am five months post surgery. My toe is still just a swollen as before surgery and my pain has actually increased. I am hopeful that things will get better but if asked at this point if I would do it again, the answer would be no. I was a professional dancer and now I can’t even dance in the kitchen with my partner. I was given no physical therapy exercises after surgery, only told to bend my toe to keep it moving. If you can share what you were given, I will try anything at this point. I am extremely discouraged that I will never dance again, even if it is just for fun at this point. I am unable to exercise much due to increased pain and am gaining weight to top it off. Any help is appreciated.
