Can drive, but toe swells
So there was some traveling coming up this day requiring some traveling an hour or so in a car each way.
Any type of traveling after having some sort of surgery is probably not ideal, but its especially not ideal if you have surgery in the foot that controls the pedal and brake (right foot in this case).
At this point, I can put a shoe on (leave laces lose) and drive, but decided to let the spouse drive knowing the foot still swells and I actually have an option to defer driving.
This allowed me to put my foot up and rest on dash as needed. And walking around at the destination, the foot did get warm and swelled a bit, but didn’t seem as bad as other days.
So I will take this as a win. I think, if had to I would be able to drive a bit on day 9, any other days would have been uncomfortable to say the least. I have worked my way in
Only couple more days until the stitches are removed and the post-surgery followup is completed.
I am an avid lifter and workout to relieve stress and such, but its been 12 days since I did anything, but am doing some pull ups and one-legged push ups (just rest the surgery foot on the back of your good leg).
I have to say it was nice doing something, foot is warm but all good. Here is the picture of its healing progress today. Last one before we go get the stitches out tomorrow.

Warning slightly graphic picture..click to proceedDid you complete the procedure? If so did your surgery/healing thus far match mine or differ in someway? Lets hear it in the comments below.
I’m on day 12 of right foot. 9 weeks + 5 days of left foot. My stitches were removed in day 10 the last go-around. They’ll be removed on day 14 this time. I still change the pad I tape over the incision, daily -and reapply aquaphor to keep it moist. I didn’t keep it as moist last time and it was dryer and itchy after the first week. Today was the first day there was no spotting whatsoever. Yesterday there were a couple yellowish spots, almost negligible.
I did actually drive to the grocery store on day 7, wearing my stiff shoe from the hospital, since I’m the only one who can drive. It was no problem at all. I stayed in the car and waited though.
This foot is doing so much better than the left. I’ve been taking photos daily to compare. Still a bit of bruising. Really looking forward to having the sprites out.
I’ve dialed down the PT on the left foot. I have a feeling I may have been overdoing it, and it may be contributing to the swelling. I think I’ll ease up on it for a couple days then start applying more pressure next week.
For the right foot (day 12) the toe bends slightly, and I walk around the house mostly with no shoe on.
Hi Jace,
for me it is now day 12 since my cheilectomy. I had my stitch removed after day 7. It was only one stitch as surgery was minimally invasive (small 3mm incision is on the side) . Overall i did take two painkillers since surgery.
There is still some swelling around the joint of course. I started wearing Grogg shoes for a v. short time at home during the day to get used to normal shoes. The joint is slightly painful. Started bending toe since day 2 up and down slowly — both passive and active stretching (non weight bearing). Since day 10, I started bending toe against the wall (lying down pushing heal up while pushing toe against wall). I found that a good non weight bearing PT. I also got a foot massage ball to roll out tight tendon underneath the foot.
